Prashant Hegde Appointed Managing Director of FMC India

Prashant Hegde has joined the FMC corporation, India as the Managing Director, bringing with him over three decades of leadership experience across agrochemicals, seeds, biotechnology, and agri-business transformation. In his new role, Prashant will lead FMC’s transformation in India with a strong focus on driving sustainable growth, strengthening operational excellence, and deepening partnerships with customers, industry stakeholders, and employees.
Prior to joining FMC, Prashant served as the Chief Executive Officer – Agri at PI Industries Ltd., where he guided the organisation through multiple phases of expansion and strategic repositioning. Over his five-year tenure, he championed innovation-led growth, enhanced market competitiveness, and significantly strengthened the company’s presence across India’s rapidly evolving agri ecosystem. His leadership emphasised farmer-centric solutions, digital enablement, and operational excellence across the value chain.
Before PI Industries, Prashant held senior leadership roles at Bayer Crop Science and Monsanto, building deep expertise in seeds, technology licensing, and commercial leadership across the Asia Pacific region. As Business Head for Vegetable Seeds (Asia Pacific), he led P&L operations, spearheaded market development initiatives, and introduced new technologies aimed at advancing agricultural productivity across the region. His earlier roles at Monsanto—including Sales lead for South Asia and Director of Technology Licensing—further highlighted his ability to drive cross-market expansion and manage complex, multi-country portfolios.
With his appointment as Managing Director, Prashant Hegde is expected to steer company’s next phase of transformation and growth, reinforce its commitment to sustainable agriculture, and strengthen FMC’s position as a leading innovator in India’s agri-inputs sector. His strategic vision and extensive global experience make him a key addition to FMC’s leadership team at a pivotal moment for the agriculture industry.
