Shishir Shekhar Appointed as General Manager, Digital Solutions Division (DSD) at Mitsubishi Electric (MEPPI)

Shishir Shekhar has been appointed as General Manager, Digital Solutions Division (DSD) at Mitsubishi Electric (MEPPI), bringing with him a distinguished global career spanning advanced technologies, energy systems, and digital innovation. Known for driving large-scale transformation across E-Mobility, AI, IIoT, and Energy Management domains, Shishir’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for Mitsubishi Electric’s digital leadership and product innovation ambitions.


Before joining Mitsubishi Electric, Shishir served in senior leadership roles at Landis+Gyr, where he was an integral part of the global leadership team reporting directly to the Group CTO. As Sr. Director, Global Technology & Innovation, he led the adoption and growth of a $120 million Edge-to-Enterprise hardware and solutions portfolio across global markets. Shishir managed P&L responsibilities, established the company’s global AI Centre of Excellence, and oversaw more than 70 R&D, Product, Software, and Business leaders across the USA, Europe, and Asia. His strategic acumen also contributed to multiple global M&A and several AI and IIoT patents focused on EV, DERMS, and Edge Computing.


Parallel to his Landis+Gyr leadership, Shishir served as Subsidiary Director & CEO of True Energy A/S, A Landis+Gyr Company, Denmark, specializing in AI-based EV charging solutions. He successfully managed P&L for the multi -million $$ business, led global expansion, and guided multi-country teams across Denmark, the USA, and India. His experience also includes high-impact roles at Itron, MathWorks, and National Grid, where he led global product strategy, AI analytics portfolios, and grid modernization initiatives. Earlier in his career, he conducted advanced AI research at MIT, contributing to projects for Tesla and National Grid.


Across roles, Shishir has built a reputation for transforming technology portfolios, shaping long-term innovation roadmaps, and developing solutions at the intersection of AI, energy, and mobility. His leadership has earned industry recognition, including the ISGF Innovation Award 2025, and he has consistently driven results through strategic direction, cross-functional collaboration, and customer-focused innovation.


In his new role at Mitsubishi Electric, Shishir is expected to accelerate the Digital Solutions Division’s growth, strengthen its innovation capabilities across Mitsubishi’s Data Center, Transportation, Power Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Substation, Digital Display and other business divisions, driving next-generation digital transformation initiatives. With his global experience, technology vision, and proven leadership across energy and E-Mobility ecosystems, Shishir brings a powerful strategic perspective to Mitsubishi Electric’s mission of building advanced, reliable, and future-ready digital solutions.


Mr. Shekhar holds a Dual Degree, A.M and M.B.A from Harvard University, USA and a Master of Science (M.S.) Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Northeastern University, USA. Mr. Shekhar was a Research Scientist and Visiting Fellow at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) USA under Dr. Sarma Mulukutla. Mr. Shekhar received his B. Tech degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from SRM University, India in 2009 and was awarded Notable Alumni of SRM University India in 2020.
