With over two decades of diverse experience in retail leadership and operations, Sumit brings with him a proven track record of driving business growth, managing large-scale sales networks, and building high-performing teams across India’s leading retail organizations. His appointment marks a strategic addition to ABFRL’s leadership team as the company continues to strengthen its retail footprint and customer engagement.


Before joining ABFRL, Sumit held the position of Regional Head – West at Trent Ltd (Westside), where he played a pivotal role in expanding market presence and optimizing sales operations across the western region. His efforts contributed significantly to strengthening Westside’s brand positioning and enhancing the in-store experience for customers.


Sumit’s career in retail spans nearly two decades with reputed brands like Lifestyle International Pvt. Ltd., where he rose through the ranks from Senior Manager to General Manager, leading retail sales, store operations, and category management across regions. Earlier, he served with Future Value Retail Limited, managing sales and operations for T24, a unique telecom-retail venture by the Future Group in partnership with Tata Docomo. His early professional journey began in the Merchant Navy with Fleet Management Limited, Hong Kong, where he honed his leadership, discipline, and team management skills in a global environment.


A seasoned retail professional, Sumit is widely recognized for his hands-on leadership style, customer-centric mindset, and deep understanding of India’s evolving retail ecosystem. As he takes on his new role at Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited, his focus will be on driving strategic growth, enhancing sales performance, and nurturing operational excellence within the OWND format.
