Gaurav Bayas Appointed as National Sales Manager – Bharat Banking Microfinance (BC Channel) at Axis Bank
Gaurav Bayas has been appointed as the National Sales Manager for Bharat Banking Microfinance (BC Channel) at Axis Bank, marking a significant milestone in his decade-long career in the banking and financial services sector. With more than 11 years of diverse experience across Business Banking, digital banking, alternate business channels, credit policy making, product & process management, agri, MSME & rural finance, credit underwriting, operations, risk management, audit & regulatory compliance, Gaurav brings deep domain expertise and a strong performance track record to his new leadership role.
Prior to this appointment, Gaurav served as the Assistant Vice President and Product Lead for Bharat Banking at Axis Bank, where he spent over three years shaping critical initiatives in priority sector finance, rural lending, microfinance, government-sponsored schemes and financial inclusion. His work spanned various process improvements, Govt relations, subsidy & interest subvention management, digital automation, strategic policy development, underwriting, audit, regulatory compliance, and portfolio management contributing significantly to the growth and operational excellence.
Gaurav’s career journey also includes impactful roles at State Bank of India, where he worked as a Circle Based Officer and Credit Officer, managing credit processing, MSME and agriculture portfolios, financial inclusion programs, and government scheme disbursements. His strong grounding in Business Development & Sales, credit assessment, risk management, customer relationship management and operations was further strengthened during his earlier tenure at YES BANK and Axis Securities, where he handled relationship management, credit appraisals, portfolio risk management, cross sell and business development for micro and small enterprise clients.
Throughout his career, Gaurav has demonstrated a consistent ability to drive revenue growth, strengthen credit quality, and build high-performing teams. His extensive exposure to MSME, retail, Agri rural finance, supply chain finance, and financial inclusion uniquely positions him to lead Axis Bank’s national microfinance business development strategy through the BC Channel. Known for his analytical mindset, leadership abilities, and deep understanding of customer needs across urban, rural and semi-urban markets, he is set to play a pivotal role in expanding the bank’s microfinance footprint and strengthening its commitment to inclusive growth.
With this new responsibility, Gaurav continues his journey of enabling sustainable development and financial access for underserved & unbanked communities across India. His appointment reflects Axis Bank’s focus on strengthening its Bharat Banking division and building impactful financial solutions for Microfinance retail segments nationwide.
