Diego Cervantes-Knox Appointed Group COO at Ocean Re to Accelerate Global Growth and Scale Operations

Diego Cervantes-Knox has been appointed Group Chief Operating Officer at Ocean Re, a global reinsurance firm headquartered in Barbados, with operations in circa 100 countries. Starting September 2025, Diego will be responsible for scaling operations, modernising infrastructure, and accelerating the company’s growth trajectory as it enters its next phase of strategic expansion.
Ocean Re is positioning itself as a next-generation reinsurer by aligning innovation with capital efficiency and operational scale. Diego’s mandate will focus on strengthening delivery across global markets — including Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia, the Middle East, and Europe — while building the capabilities required to support long-term value creation and resilience.
Cervantes-Knox brings over 20 years of leadership experience across financial services, insurance, and consulting. Most recently, he was a Partner at PwC UK, where he oversaw both CFO Advisory and Technology Delivery with a focus on Operations across the insurance and asset management sectors. His work included innovation-led delivery, the creation of strategic assets, and the scaling of nearshore and offshore delivery centres through PwC’s alliance ecosystem. In his client-facing role, he led some of the UK’s largest transformation programmes in recent years, focusing on the modernisation of finance and operations functions, adoption of accounting and regulatory change (IFRS 17, IFRS 9 and Solvency II), and large-scale digitalisation.
Prior to PwC, Diego held senior leadership roles at EY, RSA, Hiscox, and Chubb, delivering transformation and growth programmes across group functions. Earlier in his career, he worked in financial innovation at Google, in investment operations at 3i Group, and began his journey in corporate finance consulting at McDonald’s and boutique advisory firms in Europe and the U.S.
In addition to his executive responsibilities, Diego serves as a Non-Executive Director at The Growth Company and sits on finance and investment committees for King’s College London and other public-interest organisations, reflecting his commitment to governance excellence and societal impact.
